Protecting and caring for children since 1851, OzChild is the longest consecutive service to children and families in Victoria. Our board members labor to ensure the best coming for OzChild and all the children within our care. In service to this commitment, OzChild is also an advocate for sector reform and definite public attitudes to children in care. The third amalgamating agency, The National Children’s Bureau of Australia, began in 1971 as the Kid and Family Welfare Council of Australia, a national peak body with a mandate to lobby government, share information and prosper training programs. They came together as OzChild, to work towards better futures for Australia’s children. Lisa has had an international executive career busy in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom with 28 years of direct experience in the Not For Profit and government sectors. Lisa intends to build on the splendid legacy and successes of OzChild, my vision is to ensure we yield the services required in our communities to our maximum vulnerable children and families. Helen has made important contribution acting as a member and chair of various committees within the Board of Directors between 2001 and 2013, and is currently a Vice President of the Board. David has significant executive and Non Executive Director experience in the Not for Gain and commercial sector having worked as the National General Manager for Multiple Sclerosis Australia between 2005 and 2007, and as Director of PowerKat Marketing with a focus on assisting organizations with community engagement and cultural change programs. Michael is an experienced executive and director who has worked in emergency services and public authorities for over 20 years with deep experience in finance and leadership. Michael is currently the Partnership Executive with Endless in Melbourne. Michael has two young boys and is passionate about the healthy being and future aspirations of children. We are committed to influencing change within the kid welfare sector, promoting certain reform and boosting public attitudes to children in care. The areas we hide in our advocacy include concern of children and young people, supporting children with disabilities, managing trauma injury or neglect related difficulties, interventions to bear better outcomes, improving outofhome protection (innovations in the sector), family poverty, education, violence and culturally specific needs (particularly for Indigenous Australians). Once your school has four or more students with this completed paperwork, OzChild can yield your school with a psychologist or a mental health social worker. OzChild provides foster carers for children in the Southern and Western regions of Victoria and supports children with therapeutic services, disability respite, legal guidance, counseling, scholarships and mentors. School staff who have undertaken PAL training may adopt a range of roles including that of training senior students to be student leaders. The 5 hour training session equips teachers or other school staff with the skills to train student leaders to implement the program into schools or other selected settings. The playgroups have been running for eight years and with the promote of local Indigenous community organizations. OzChild provides respite concern and recreational activities for children and young people with disabilities. OzChild works with a range of government departments and encourage protection families to ensure the superior interests of the kid is met. Our goal is to everlasting find the superior and most certain outcome for children and young people within our care, including long term foster care or the return of a kid to their family. If you're interested in fostering a kid with a disability, OzChild offers a variety of disability protection services which you could receive portion in. OzChild runs a volunteering program for children with disabilities, supporting children on camps and in recreational activities. Kinship concern is the preferred form of protection for a kid unable to live with their spontaneous parent as it can help to save the child’s relationship with their families and assists in maintaining stability in a young person’s life. To ensure the superior interests of the kid are met, OzChild works with the kid and their networks including carers, Government child concern services and the child’s family to ensure a suitable outcome. OzChild offers a range of Kinship Concern Service options to families, children and young people and the professionals who urge them. Volunteers are important to the work OzChild provides helping promote children and families and are essential in allowing us to deliver our Volunteer Family Support Program. Volunteers donate assistance to families in feasible and emotional ways often helping them through difficult times. Volunteers of the Family Encourage Program are asked to commit two four hours per fortnight to urge children and families with a range of activities such as: We present ongoing professional development, urge and supervision to ensure that you are hopeful in your volunteer role. OzChild provides support to families and children, helping to preserve the living situations of disadvantaged young people and thwart them from being placed in Encourage Care. This family encourage program in Franks ton and the Mornington Peninsula provides intensive support to children referred by Kid Protection where it has been assessed that a child is at risk of requiring a placement in out of home care and the family requires immediate intervention to diminish this risk. Families First labor with children and families includes identifying strengths and difficulties, providing possible assistance, counseling promote and setting goals to accomplish change so that the kid or children can continue safely with their family. The program is aimed at both parents individually and is advantageous even if only one parent attends.
