Building on a arrogant tradition, Melbourne Grammar School fosters excellence in its students, providing a meaningful and fulfilling education across three campuses. Catering to some 1,800 students from Prep to Year 12, the School has a mighty tradition of academic excellence and offers comprehensive learning and leadership opportunities, allowing students to grow and attain within a powerful and supportive community. Our junior school, Grimwade House, is located in Caulfield and caters to boys and girls from Prep to Year 6. We trust it is imperative for young boys and girls to play and grow together in a warm, supportive atmosphere where they learn from one another. Our decision to produce coeducational learning for younger students stems from our belief in the importance of family. Parents of primary school students are highly involved in their children’s education and we recognize that this encourage and organization is easier to yield if all young children in a family attend the alike school. The structure of Grimwade House also reflects the family environment with older and younger children exploring the world together through daily play and crucial events. We are acutely aware that many boys appreciate sport and games, and our sporting and outdoor education programmed are geared toward making safe that all boys find an opportunity to play in teams or participate in sporting activities that suit their abilities. Our boys find that effective teamwork and handling the rigors of the sports field are essential skills that serve them equally well in the academic arena. They can prosper in a secure environment which values the individual and recognizes that success can receive many forms. In tandem with our science, technology and mathematical programmed, our classes in performing and original arts and humanities are presented as a vital path to tomorrow success. Our debating teams, theatrical presentations, orchestras, choirs and music ensembles, camps and other activities reinforce this message. While not a member of School Council, the Headmaster attends Council meetings in a consultative capacity. The School Executive is responsible for overall management of the School in all its key areas of operation with a focus on policy development, planning and direction. Roy is married to Ann and has two daughters, Amy and Sarah. Before to that, he had been the School's Finance Manager for eleven years. John spends many of his weekends in Wangaratta, and his interests include hockey and active on used radios. John is also Secretary to the School Executive. He enjoys preparing for family gatherings, gardening, visits to the beach, reading and enhancing his IT skills. Helen has worked in the corporate environment, starting her career in the Graduate programmed at AZ Banking Group and later moving into management consulting. She has made a commitment to working within the education sector for 20 years, and Melbourne Grammar School is her third school. She loves nothing more than going to the movies. South well School is the largest coeducational, autonomous primary and boarding school in New Zealand and caters for students from Prep to Year 8. Mr Caldwell has three daughters and family is the focus of his activities away from School.

A supportive community has seen Melbourne Grammar School grow from modest beginnings to become one of the city’s leading educational institutions. Over more than 150 years, Melbourne Grammar School has welcomed students, families and staff into its fold, and become an integral piece of the local community. As we move forward we remain to pay respect to our history and those who have come earlier us. We are very elated that our School has produced many distinguished graduates, including Prime Ministers, Antarctic explorers, Anglican clergy, artists, servicemen, academics, industrialists and farmers, and many other Australians who have made invaluable contributions to this country’s growth. Our ever expanding digital archive includes photographs from the hasty days of the school, records relating to past students who served in the First World War, and biographies of Worn Melburnians. A striking collection of historic and contemporary buildings stand as testament to one of Melbourne’s oldest and maximum respected schools. Almost ten years later as the town entered the era obvious as marvelous Melbourne, Bishop Perry’s dream of building a lasting grammar school was realized when the government granted him fifteen acres on St Gilda Road for the purpose. The architects Charles Webb and Thomas Taylor designed the first buildings to be erected on the relatively isolated site, and Melbourne Grammar School was opened in 1858. Economic depression and financial concerns saw the School struggle for the next forty years, prompting a group of previous students to found the Impaired Melburnians Society in 1895. Over 120 years later, this society remains a pillar of the School community.

As we believe that every individual has leadership capabilities, we integrate learning about leadership into a long range of academic and co curricular programmed, encouraging our students to develop their minds and learn from their actions. Drawing on a range of theories and models, we place a mighty emphasis on wisdom and engaged action. Leadership development is formally integrated into the curriculum and co curricular activities at all levels in order that our students prosper ethical hearts, engaged minds and significant relationships that contribute to the community. At Melbourne Grammar School, we value the significance of leadership as service’ and the importance of teamwork within a potent meticulous and moral dimension. Through our Service Learning programmed at Wadhurst and Senior School, the students are capable to meaningfully link with local and international communities through volunteering and philanthropic opportunities. Phil is also our Indigenous programmed Manager and acts as a join between the School, our Indigenous students and their families. Service to the community is an urgent segment of Melbourne Grammar School’s culture and philosophy relating to leadership. Service leadership at Melbourne Grammar School begins at Grimwade House, through providing students with opportunities to serve and build important relationships within our community. This provides them with a scaffold ed model to ready them for external community service in later years. We produce learning opportunities so that students are building values and ethics, understandings, knowledge and skills around service and community. Our Service Learning activities are formalized with the Class Captain programmed in Years 26. Each term, a class representative is voted for by their peers and it is their role to be the eyes, ears and voice for any issues or ideas which may affect their classroom, year group or campus community. Fortnightly meetings allow for these concerns or innovations to be discussed and acted on by the Student Representative Council. It is a commitment that not only provides personal leadership opportunities but a way to engage positively to serve the Grimwade community. Our Year 6 Service Teams, formerly obvious as Leadership Teams, have also been created to help students thrive a deeper accepting of community service and prepare them for opportunities beyond Grimwade House. Each Year 6 student will contribute to a team which will cover aspects of music, Chapel, Chinese, peer support in the playground, peer reading, science, library, learning, the environment and more. It is a contribution which enables students to see the ripple effect that serving others makes to a community as healthy as the personal development within. Visiting Mission House and St Marks Homeless Shelter is a valuable experience for the students and helps them to better comprehend the disadvantage faced by many people within our community. It also highlights the value of selfless time to community service as an alternative to donating financially. The Wadhurst community formally promote the Make a Wish Bottom with an annual event called Crop a Child Day’ where more than one hundred years 7 8 students crop their hair and raise funds and awareness for seriously ailing children, We, as a community, have raised over 200,00 with this event over the end 10 years. It is an expectation that all students in the Senior School be involved in some form of service, whether it is through the local community, an international opportunity or charitable fund raising.
