Bede Architects are specialists in the design of buildings for people with disabilities. We design for disabled adult day programs and accommodation, hasty intervention and kindergartens. Our designs are based on our own in house research and the philosophy of the service. We give a unique architectural service and have designed for mature day activity centers through to schools for students with Autism. Our designs represent many years of developing knowledge of what works in buildings supporting people with disabilities and how the buildings reflect the core values of the organization and the people in them. The building provides an integrated connected group of sub schools in a community yet gives all student learning an individual controlled outlook breaking the learning down to calm, trivial group spaces for 68 students. This project involved the renovation of a former Victorian era Primary School. The Performing Arts center includes drama, art and music spaces as healthy as performing spaces. Down the rigidity of its clever 1970s design to enable innovative spaces, its originate areas into its sub schools that can serve students, parents and educators. It involves adding a fresh multipurpose building for sports, assembly and community use as well as the expansion of a 1970’s music center. The completed first stage of this fresh building follows on from Bede Architects' many previous renovation projects at the School. The second stage of this building is the First Floor. It includes two 30 place kindergartens, a maternal and child health service, community meeting rooms as. Centrally, a multispace community area opens on to a contained community outer courtyard. It offers a range of tall quality services for babies and young children, which include kindergarten, day concern and maternal and child health. A important community room and meeting rooms are available for private hire and also provide spaces for community programs run by Council. This building is portion of a community hub with childcare, maternal kid health and other community facilities within a fresh shopping precinct. A fresh change building and kiosk were added and the existing building was upgraded. The main building segment, which fronts both the car park and the oval, contains the social room, semi commercial kitchen, public amenities, internal place room, entry foyer, and the important covered oval viewing area. This building adds a multipurpose indoor sports and assembly space using waved external metal cladding and adjoining a new community music facility. Its occupants appreciate sun protected spaces with a view to the north from all spaces. A new kitchen, dining and living area were designed with inner and outer connections to the new extension. Homeless women are provided with training and are encouraged to practice new skills in readiness for living in the their own homes in the community. Opportunities and training to develop living skills are at the core of the design.
